June 5-13, 2017: Peru
The Changemakers Adventure is a destination retreat focused on life enhancing and expanding through adventure and personal/spiritual development.
The 2017 adventure is a 9 day/8 night retreat in Peru.
The modern science of happiness research says that if you truly want to be happy then invest in experiences, rather than objects. Travel is one of the most enriching gifts I have ever given myself. You learn about history, different cultures, foods, religions, art and people. But most of all, you get out of your patterns and begin to connect with a part of yourself you may not have even know existed. Especially with adventure travel where exploration is the foundation of the trip.
Join other changemakers on this epic adventure to experience one of the most ancient civilizations on the planet. Connect with your mind, body, and soul as we explore historically rich places such as Machu Picchu, go white water rafting down the Urubamba river, and travel deep within for a traditional Temazcal sweat lodge ceremony. These are just a few of the enriching experiences we will have - surrounded by one of most inspiring landscapes in the world. The Changemakers Adventure awaits you!

Day 1 to 5: We Head To The Sacred Valley ...
We begin our trip in the culturally rich city of Cusco where we meet for lunch (arrive by 1pm, lunch not included in price) before heading down to the Sacred Valley. We will spend four nights/ five days exploring the sites and vibrant Quechua markets. We will white-water raft down the Urabamba river one day and visit salt terraces another day. The last evening in the Sacred Valley our group will get to experience a traditional Peruvian Temazcal Ceremony. I will lead the group through daily Dynamic Release Method yoga sessions in the in-door yoga retreat space which has a warming fireplace. There is a massage therapist on site for those who would like to indulge in some extra love and care.
Day 2 in the Sacred Valley: White Water Rafting The Urubamba River has some exciting white water depending on the section of the river being done and the time of the year. One of our most popular rafting sections during the season is the “Chuquicahuana” (CHUQUI) ,this is the section of the river on the Upper Urubamba. There are good class IIl rapids. This section is perfect for ½ a day tour. Excellent scenic riverside big eucalyptus trees, beautiful flowers, mountains, a profusion of cactus and Inca ruins adorn this whitewater trip. At the end of the trip we will have lunch and visit the quaint village of Ollantaytambo, which is the best surviving example of Inca city planning, You can also do some shopping at the colorful markets. We will leave early morning after breakfast.
Day 3 in the Sacred Valley: Salt Rock Terraces Day Trip. Access to the Maras salt terraces is by no means easy. Only travellers adventurous enough to climb deep into the branching crevasses of the Urubamba valley will be rewarded with the jaw-dropping view on the glittering pool. Perhaps that is one of the reasons the Salineras are still in use after all this time – no perfunctory tourist venue arrived to disturb the tranquil beauty. This is a must visit place to see and also to purchase yourself some pink salt.
Day 4 in the Sacred Valley: Temazcal Healing Ceremony. During the day you can adventure out on your own or simply relax at the hotel. During this solemn and symbolic ceremony, a Shaman will guide you through the antique protocol and invoke the four elements to purify your mind, body and soul. Temazcal is not a spa treatment: it is an intense ritual that will challenge your body and train your mind for higher self power. This initiation is the right first step to solidify bonds and ignite transformation. The Temazcal serves as a calming, spiritual and therapeutic experience. This night we will have Pizza outside under the blanket of stars, baked in a wood fired oven.
The hotel is located in Urubamba, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, it is surrounded by views of the Andes Mountains. Situated at an altitude of 9400 feet / 2850 meters. It is a quiet and relaxing environment with beautiful gardens, views of the surrounding mountains and easy access to lots of fun adventure activities. Day 5 - 6 : Next We Go To Aguas Calientes (1 night)
We cross the valley to Ollantaytambo early. After we will take a scenic train ride along the Urubamba River to arrive at Aguas Calientes (the train has a window on the ceiling to see the beautiful landscape). Once in Aguas Calientes our group will have a free day and some will want to go out to lunch and shop, while others will head to Santa Teresa Hot Springs, we can hike or take a cab there. The following day Aguas Calientes will be our base from where we tour the Magnificent Machu Picchu.
The town of Aguas Calientes also known as Machu Picchu’s Pueblo, lies in a deep gorge below the ruins. A virtual island, it’s cut off from all roads and enclosed by stone cliffs, towering cloud forest, and two rushing rivers. Despite its gorgeous location, Aguas Calientes has always been a bit of a no-man’s land, with a large itinerant population, slack services that count on one-time customers and an architectural tradition of rebar and unfinished cement. With merchants pushing the hard sell, it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed. Your best bet is to go without expectations. Yet spending the night offers one distinct advantage: early access to Machu Picchu, which turns out to be a pretty good reason to stay. The hotel, is simple, clean and comfortable. The rooms are all double occupancy with private bathrooms. There is no yoga space in the Hotel, but I will lead the group through a wonderful class right next to Machu Picchu on a open flat field. Epic!

Day 6 - 9 : lastly We Head Back To Cusco (3 nights)
